Sun Gro Professional Growing Mixes
All Sunshine Mixes are made from a blend of Canadian Sphagnum peat moss, gypsum, dolomitic lime, and an exclusive wetting agent. Dolomitic lime is added to adjust media pH to 5.0 - 7.0 and to provide calcium and magnesium. Gypsum is added as a source of sulfur and calcium. In addition, Mix #1 and Mix#4 have highly soluble nutrient charges equivalent to about on liquid feeding with a complete fertilizer, plus trace elements at a normal rate.
Sunshine Mix #1
The most versatile formulation that expert growers choose for the production of a wide variety of crops. A general use mix, it contains Canadian sphagnum peat moss, perlite, major and minor nutrients, gypsum, dolomitic lime and a long-lasting wetting agent.

Sunshine Mix #2
Basic Mix #2 is appropriate for the same general uses as Mix #1, but no nutrient charge has been added, allowing you to have complete control over fertilization. Mix #2 contains Canadian sphagnum peat moss, perlite, gypsum, dolomitic lime and a long-lasting wetting agent.

Sunshine Mix #3
Germinating Mix #3 is suitable for a wide range of growing need, particularly where less frequent watering is desired. It has a shorter fiber peat than our other mixes, and has low fertilizer charge to protect seedlings and plugs. Mix #3 contains fine Canadian sphagnum peat moss, fine vermiculite, gypsum, dolomitic lime and a long-lasting wetting agent.

Sunshine Mix #4
Aggregate Mix #4 is recommended where high air capacity and fast drainage are needed: during winter months, with highly water and salt sensitive crops, or where frequent leaching is required. Mix #4 contains Canadian sphagnum peat moss, perlite, major and minor nutrients, gypsum, dolomitic lime and a long-lasting wetting agent.

Plug Mix #5 is designed to promote better root development in ornamental and vegetable transplant plugs. Mix #5 contains fine Canadian sphagnum peat moss, fine perlite, gypsum, dolomitic lime, long-lasting wetting agent, and a low fertilizer charge to protect young seedlings.

Sunshine Mix #6
PreMix # 6 contains no aggregate, allowing you to control drainage by choosing your own aggregate. (e.g. pumice or bark). PreMix #6 contains Canadian sphagnum moss, major and minor nutrients, trace elements, dolomitic lime, long-lasting wetting agent, and contains twice the fertilizer charge as our Mix #1.

Sunshine Mix #7
Gel Plus Mix #7 is particularly suited for high water usage plants. Since the gel holds available water for the plant, this is an excellent mix for plants that receive less than ideal care once they leave the greenhouse or for plants needing frequent watering. Mix #7 contains Canadian sphagnum peat moss, perlite, major and minor nutrients, gypsum, long-lasting wetting agent and a super absorbent polymer to hold significant amounts of water close to the plant root system.

Mix #8 with coarse grade vermiculite is a general purpose mix suitable for a wide variety of plants. Mix #8 contains just the right blend of Canadian sphagnum grower grade peat moss, coarse grade perlite, coarse grade vermiculite, dolomitic limestone, gypsum, starter fertilizer charge, and a long-lasting wetting agent.
